KATY |
Fries Actress Jennifer
Redbird- Jennifer is eleven years old. After a national search
for the lead in this film was conducted, Jennifer came and tried
out. She beat out professional actresses from many agencies and
throughout many states for the part. She plays the lead
character of Katy in the film. She lives close by to the
production office in the Eagle Bottom Area of Fries, Virginia
and this is her first starring role in a major motion picture.
She is of Ani-Stohini/Unami (Native American) and Mexican
descent. The hardest part of acting so far, she says, was during
the pre-production stage of development when she couldn’t tell
anyone at school that she had the lead in a motion picture
production. Redbird’s character witnesses a murder, loses her
mother, and fears for her life, as she begins one of the most
difficult life journeys on earth; the study of Native American
Medicine. She learns to love and trust a stranger as she begins
the journey. |
| Oklahoma Indian Elvus
Kishketon, Jr. plays the part of Danji Turtle, an old time
Native American medicine man who lives in the Fries area. Having
lived alone for many years, Danji has to learn to adjust to
having an energetic young girl in his house. Throughout the
film, they develop a loving relationship in spite of death and
tragedy and outside forces seeking to destroy the last of the
medicine ways. Kishketon is a Kickapoo Indian. |
