Top Ten Films in America Festival

April 19-22, 2007

 

In historical mountain theaters in the BLUE RIDGE MOUNTAINS of Virginia in April, the absolute best films in America will be showcased in the following categories: DOCUMENTARIES SHORTS FEATURES There will also be a special Category for FOREIGN FILMS Unlike other film festivals which concentrate on direction, cinematography, and special effects, our film festival will emphasize the "STORY". Venues

Films will be showcased in the  historical 1910 Fries Theater in Fries  Famous REX Theater in Galax The Town of Fries is a former mill town which sits on the congressionally designated wild and scenic New River in the mountains of the state of Virginia. The nearby City of Galax is the home of Bluegrass music and every year hosts the world famous Old Time Fiddlers Convention which brings musicians in from all around the world. A rugged and beautiful plpart of America, this area of the Mt. Rogers National Recreation area is one of the most rugged and unspoiled parts of the country with two congressionally designated wilderness areas, rich in Appalachian mountain and Native American cultural heritage.

Attention FILM PRODUCERS AND DIRECTORS!-COMPETITION

- Yes this is a competition. But the competition is to get into the film festival. If you get in you have ALREADY won the designation as one of the TOP TEN FILMS IN AMERICA! Out of the whole country, there can only be ten films selected in each category. We WANT to give everyone a fair shake but we expect the competition to get into this festival to be fierce. For that reason we are suggesting that if you have a film that is still only in rough cut stages to hold off and send us the finished version next year. SLAMDANCE received over THREE THOUSAND entries this year. Atlanta received over 1200 entries last year and the field keeps growing. So does the amount of film festivals for Producers and Directors to choose from. So we are strongly suggesting that you consider getting in on this festival in our first year as we may be a small community but we anticipate that this will soon be one of the major festivals in the world. Please don't forget that we also have a foreign films category. All participating films will be listed on this site. We have chosen to be a partner with Without A Box.
